excess mortar from Lyons(Colorado)sandstone patio

How do we remove excess mortar from a Lyons (Colorado) sand (http://maplered.com) Stone (http://g603.net) patio,
laid a month ago. The grout lines are fine, but the spill over besides
the lines is unsightly. Should we sand (http://maplered.com) , chisel, etch, or just let nature
and (http://maplered.com) foot traffic wear it off. Thanks, Lisa
